The Scientific Computing Department provides numerical models, applies them where necessary, and develops modeling and data processing chains. More specifically, it is responsible for the development and use of GECKO-A, CHIMERE, an assimilation code and satellite inversion codes at LISA.

To make it easier for users to update internal and external numerical codes (WRF, HYSPLIT...), the latest versions have been made available and modeling chains have been built for these models. The scientific computing department has also developed post-processing programs for visualizing and analyzing measurement campaign data and data from the various models, as well as model validation chains based on data from global (AERONET) or European (EEA) measurement networks. Most of these modeling chains are available to LISA users on the IN2P3 gitlab.

In addition to their code development activities, the Scientific Computing Division staff are more broadly responsible for all users of LISA's local computing resources (the LISA computing cluster), the IPSL meso-center (spirit, spiritx and hal), and national resources (TGCC and IDRIS). Every year, the laboratory consumes several million computing hours.
